2D Scanning simply put means seeing your baby move around in 2 dimensional viewing and in real time. Inside the transducer (probe that is moved over your tummy) there are a number of crystals, which are positioned in a straight line, these omit harmless sound waves which bounce off dense objects in the womb, which in turn send the signals back to the transducer and ultrasound machine allowing you to see these images as displayed below.
